Advantages and disadvantages of turbocharger

1. Increase engine power. Under the condition that the engine displacement is constant, the engine can inject more fuel by increasing the intake air density, so as to improve the engine power. The power and torque of the engine with supercharger will increase by 20%~30%. On the contrary, under the same power output requirements, the cylinder diameter of the engine can be reduced, and the volume and weight of the engine can be reduced.
2. Improve engine emissions. Turbocharger engine reduces the emission of harmful components such as particulate matter and nitrogen oxide in engine exhaust gas by improving the combustion efficiency of the engine. It is an indispensable configuration for diesel engines to meet the emission standards above Euro 2.
3. It provides the function of plateau compensation. In some high altitude areas, the higher the altitude is, the thinner the air is. The engine with turbocharger can overcome the power reduction of the engine caused by the thin plateau air.
4. Improve fuel economy and reduce fuel consumption. Because the engine with turbocharger has better combustion performance, it can save fuel by 3% - 5%.
5. It has high reliability, good matching characteristics and high transient response characteristics.
Disadvantages of turbocharger:
The disadvantage of turbochargers is lag, that is, the inertia of the impeller is slow to respond to the sudden change of the throttle, which causes the engine to delay in increasing or reducing the output power. For the car that is going to accelerate or overtake suddenly, it will feel a little weak in the moment.
Turbocharger models have the following precautions, which can easily damage the turbocharger if not paid attention:
1. You can't leave without driving
After the engine is started, let it run at idle speed for a period of time to allow the lubricating oil to fully lubricate the bearing before the supercharger rotor runs at high speed.
2. Unable to shut down immediately
The engine cannot be stopped immediately after running at high speed for a long time. If the engine stops suddenly when it is hot, the oil trapped in the turbocharger will overheat and damage the bearings and shafts.
3. Oil selection
The selection of turbocharged engine oil is very important. We recommend you to use new fully synthetic engine oil, which has extremely low evaporation loss and high thermal stability and improves fuel economy; Excellent detergency and dispersion performance, reducing the formation of sludge carbon.
